Privacy notice

This notice explains what happens to personal information you send me through this website. In short: I only use it to reply to you, and I don’t sell or share it for marketing.

Who I am

This website is run by Alan Buchanan, a sole trader based in Winchester, Hampshire. I’m responsible for your information under UK data protection law. You can contact me at hello@alanbuchanan.dev.

What I collect

If you email me or use the contact form, I receive what you send: your name, email address, business or website (if you add it), the services you ticked and your message.

To keep spam out, the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser and IP address to make sure you’re not a bot.

How I use it

I use your details to reply to your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, to provide the work you’ve asked for. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Who else handles it

• Cloudflare hosts this website and runs the spam check on the contact form.
• Resend delivers contact form messages to my inbox.
• My email provider stores the messages I receive.

Each of these acts on my instructions and keeps your information secure. Some of them may process data outside the UK, under safeguards approved by UK law.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries for as long as I need them to deal with your request, and for no more than two years if we don’t go on to work together. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires (usually six years for accounts).

Cookies

This website doesn’t set any cookies of its own and doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. Just email hello@alanbuchanan.dev. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
